So they're no longer stocking my favorite kind of chocolate bar at the grocery store. Green & Black's Organic 70% (or the Maya Gold). It's very powerful, not sweet, and I found out that they rate well on the whole not-evil fair-trade end of things. And the bars are well-shaped for breaking off just a little nibble every day. (Addict? What? Shut up!)

So now I will have to go out of my way to try and find them again. Foo.

Anyone have any suggestions for good kinds of places to go looking for schwanky chocolate bars, hopefully not too badly overpriced?

The Brewing Spot (or whatever that tea shop is called behind McGuckins) has tons of different chocolate. They also have very good chai.

Vitamin Cottage usually carries Green & Black's. In fact, I see it a lot of places. (Whole Foods and Wild Oats probably have it, too.)

My supermarket stopped carrying my favorite chocolate. Lindt milk chocolate with hazelnuts.

I've recently been thinking of how many of my favorite foods start with the letter 'c.' (Chocolate is one of them, though I don't like Green & Black's because it has a funky aftertaste, kind of like mold.) Cookie Monster would have a pretty balanced diet if he only ate foods starting with the letter 'c.'

Do you have a Trader Joe's or a CostPlus World Market? They usually have good chocolate at great prices. Another place to look would be a Japanese grocery store. Japanese chocolate is not very sweet, and they have some great dark chocolate, if that's what you like. One of their brands, Meiji, has a bar that is simply called Black, and it's great.

A vitamin shop carrying chocolate bars? I approve.

Denver does not have Trader Joe's, alas. It is the one thing that keeps it from being perfect. They do have Cost Plus, though.

(I am not currently living in Denver. Alas.)
