Dang! My spiffy super-ergonomic kinesis keyboard just broke.

It just suddenly stopped working. And it's one month outside the two-year warranty. Suck-o-rama.

Bummer. stickypoof has a theory that all things electronic related are designed to have a life a little more than their warranty.

Well, that's probably true, just the other way around.

Because you want to replace the defective products, but not the worn-out ones, right? So you figure out how long it typically takes your product to wear out, set the warranty length to a bit less than that, and then most of the stuff that breaks during the warranty will be defective stuff and most of it that breaks after will be worn-out...

Ha! Yet another weakness of Dr. Tectonic revealed! Without your Super-Ergonomic Keyboard, your vulnerable wrists and arms will ache which renders you incapable of using your Earthquake Projector Ray! All I need to do now is simply break every ergonomic keyboard you ever get.

Yeah, I understand that that happens for some, too: D. has an ergonomic keyboard, as well. (He also has this funky 3M mouse; he discovered that mice hurt his wrists much more than keyboards...)

Mice are the devil. Trackballs are the way to go for a myriad of reasons besides the ergonomics.

Well, as for so many things, this does fit the different strokes category. (Because of my RSI, trackballs often hurt a lot, for example.) D's mouse dosen't look like a mouse at all; you hold it in a handshake grip.

Keyboards

If anything, I'm the opposite. Rarely do things break or give up on me just as the warranty gives out. A case in point. I had one of the very early Microsoft Natural Keyboards(tm) back when they came out in 1994. I got mine for Christmas that year and in 2003, after many years of hard use, it finally died. Some of the lettering on some keys were gone, or nearly gone and one morning, I went to take a sip of coffee, bumped the side of my old monitor and splashed the keyboard one time too many and poof, the numeric keypad went TU on me. By then, I had been thinking it's about time to get a fresh keyboard anyhow. :-)
