I have decided that miso soup is one of the best post-dental foods there is.

(1) It's mostly liquid, and what's not liquid (tofu and green onions) is very soft.
(2) It has lots of protein (tofu again).
(3) And unlike almost everything else that's soft enough to eat when your jaw is all ouchy, it's salty, not sweet.

You can even eat it for breakfast, if you're feeling sufficiently nippophilic.

(Cheap store-brand pudding cups are also very good.)

nippophilic... what a great term...

Yeah! Japanese soul food, baby.

(Okay, so that sounds pretty much like a contradiction in terms.)

Miso never ocurred to me. As i've a good deal of dental work coming up, including root canals and extractions, i'll keep that in mind. It'll be a nice change from the other broths which are my defaults.

The other nice thing is that it's really easy to prepare, but it's still complex and interesting. Much more exciting than plain old boullion.

Oh, good lord. You complain about my puns with an entry title like THAT?

You're so getting hit for this in the morning.

I got some freeze-dried miso from Wild Oats and found it to be. . .unsatisfactory. Brand recommendation?

Uh, go to an asian grocery and get the miso that's goopy and has to be refrigerated. We haven't really noticed any brand differences, but I'm highly skeptical of the idea that you could freeze-dry it.

Having tried it, I wish I had shared your skepticism. That's $2 I'll never get back. :)
