Technology hates me. The cell phone I have borrowed from Jerry won't say anything but "limited service", the dome lights in my rental car wouldn't turn off for a chunk of last night, and when I tried to boot up the laptop in the airport yesterday, it won't go. Some kind of "non-bootable volume" error, which suggests that the hard drive died or something like that. Eit!

Obviously, I have found a substitute (computer lab), and I have downloaded everything I need for a demo onto a thumb drive, but I'll need to find a laptop to borrow tomorrow during the poster session.

Otherwise, things are fine. The weather is cool but nice, the phone in my room works fine, and I *did* manage to find a computer lab.

I should get lunch and start actually thinking about the stuff we'll be talking about today...

Last week the server crashed. Even though the computer network is up and running again, some piece of equipment in the server room/copy room/sauna has been emitting a high-pitched squeal ever since. It's been reported and apparently there's nothing anyone can do about it from a distance. I'm just glad I work on the other side of the office and the only time I can hear it is when I have to steam in the room making copies.

Good luck with your presentation!
