Feb. 28th, 2007 05:59 pmWhose idea was it for the Earth to be all round and stuff?
It is highly inconvenient.
I'm tryin' to figure out how to make all these different grids line up, and it's a big pain in the butt because nobody can agree on what to do when you get to the poles.
Harrumph!
EDIT: And while I'm complaining, I would just like to point out that we are in the freaking 21st century now, there is no need to include rows of underscore characters in a form indicating where I'm supposed line things up on the typewriter when I fill it out. For that matter, there's no need to email me a bloody Word doc to get the information, either. Do they expect that I'm going to print the thing out and fill in my answers with a quill pen? Argh!

Date: 2007-03-01 05:30 am (UTC)I think that above the Arctic Circle, and below the Antarctic Circle, one should plot using distance out radius from pole and degree rotation from 0º/360º, with that direction originating at the termini of the Zero Meridian. But, alas, as you said, no one agrees. Sigh. Where's an International standard when one needs one, dammit.
