Milkweed

Just went for a walk to clear my head at work, and on the little trail that runs along the railroad tracks I ran across some milkweed. The plants were dried out and the pods split open, spilling the fluffy white seeds into the air.

I don't think I've encountered this since I was a kid. The down is amazingly soft and silky, almost slick between the fingers. And the seeds fall so slowly, drifting gently downward through the chill October air.

Almost made me feel poetic.

The last time I tried to write poetry, I found that I was much too content for it to be any good...

Really? You liked my stories? *blush* Thanks!

I don't think too much of them because I'm too close; I just see all the bits I don't like. But, on the other hand, one of the reasons I started a livejournal was to make the process of writing easier, so that I can eventually get back into writing fiction again.

Poetry isn't about being "good" it's our right as humans, like singing or dancing. You should write and be content. You don't have to show it to anyone.

And yes, you should definitly get back into fiction.
