I am firmly convinced that the reason NyQuil works is because it takes so friggin' nasty that your body says "All right! I give! I'll get better, just don't make me drink any more of that stuff!"

Cherry NyQuil, while equally if not more disgusting, is not the correct flavor of vile, so it doesn't work as well.

Bluh.

On the other hand, being sick does give you an excuse to make the most comfort-food kind of grilled cheese sandwiches (white bread, american cheese, lots of butter) and they turned out really well tonight.

I agree that Robitussin is nasty, but because it's got formulae that contain expectorant and not merely suppressant, I generally find it much more effective. But then, I'm asthmatic allergy girl, so expectorant is almost always necessary if I have any kind of a cough that I don't want to turn into bronchitis or worse.

Yeah--- I make sure whatever I take has guafenesin, for its expectorant properties. I don't care a lot about the taste--- if I'm desperate enough to need the medicine (I'm averse to taking medication most of the time), I'm desperate enough for the result. I like Day-Quil and similar, but I have to have decongestants and expectorants in whatever, because those are my trouble spots, and I typically can't afford for the medication to make me drowsy.

I'm allergic to an ingredient in NyQuil, the smell alone makes me ill.
