Serious Games
Oct. 19th, 2004 11:45 pmHere I am in Washington D.C., attending the Serious Games Summit, and I can actually check my email *and* update my blog pretty easily. (Hi Monkey! Love you!)
The conference is AWESOME. Travel here was only enh, but the conference is GREAT. I have seen a bunch of fantastic talks, and met a bunch of interesting people, and have lots of neat ideas about projects and games, and stuff.
It's both strange and super-cool to be at a professional meeting where I know that everyone thinks games are a worthwhile endeavor. Most (American) adults think of games as being just for kids. Every single person here thinks they're cool and useful. There was a woman, fashionably dressed and attractive, playing her sleek black gameboy during a talk this morning. During discussions about work topics, people will also randomly recommend a new console title. Everyone recognizes names like James Ernest, GTA, and Neverwinter Nights.
This. ROCKS.
