I now have an overwhelming need to post something that's not so goddam think-y. How can anybody stand to put up with me? That's what I want to know. Don't answer that question!

This morning I shipped off a couple of Christmas packages, which are soooo not getting there until New Year's. Some books (Jonathan Bellairs) for my nephew, who is very smart and into Harry Potter and "making potions" and who will hopefully enjoy having some good juvenile gothic horror read to him. (Hopefully his mom will enjoy them, too.) Also a Mystery Package™ for [livejournal.com profile] toosuto, because he's so special! And I have to say: shipping stuff is expensive! Dang! I think both packages cost more to mail than the contents cost.

Then I went and got a haircut. There was an attractive younger man -- redhead, goateed, kinda burly -- getting his hair cut while I waited. Shaved on the sides, short on top. Had one of those shoestring-keychain things dangling out of his pocket that said "Marines" on it; not sure if he was actually military, or just, k'know, overly butch. Either way, eye-candy, so that was nice.

I was very pleased with my haircut. I'm not really sure why; possibly because I waited too long since the last time I got one. I was momentarily taken aback by the other hairdresser in the shop because she wasn't southeast Asian! All the haircut places I've gone to for ages now are owned and run by nice Vietnamese (? Thai? I'm not sure) ladies, and I actually thought, briefly, "wait, are anglo women allowed to cut hair?" Hooray for pattern-matching, I guess...

Last night we went over to my brother's house to drop off gifts and say hi to my mom & step-dad. Tomorrow evening we're off to the mountains to hang out with them for Christmas Eve.

Dave has gotten his daughter a kitten for Christmas, and it is SUPER-CUTE! I just want to say: I love kittens! Kittens rock! Yaaaaay, kitten!

I actually find Robot Finds Kitten to be strangely heart-warming and uplifting. Poor robot. So many things that are not kitten. And then, suddenly: KITTEN!

It honestly makes me happy when robotfindskitten. Seriously.

I am a gigantic sap.

Puppies are also cute. And Rover is, indeed, über-cute. The kitten might get a bonus point for recent proximity, but let's call it a tie.

Hmmm. Now we just have to arrange for you to meet Rover, and all will be resolved.

Did you vote for her?

Yes, and in an unabashedly biased way, too.

Ok, now see, if I were a ascii character on a grid looking for a cat that looked nothing like a cat, I too would feel accomplishment and satisfaction upon completing my goal.

However, that puppy is really freaking cute.

I think this is a tie between the two.

Did you look at all 3 photos? And did you vote?

(Yes, it's really all about getting Rover to the top 10...)

(And I, for one, am glad you're not an ascii character.)

That is the dumbest thing ever.

And yet...

...and yet, it is strangely compelling.
