Just for the record: switching my machine over from Fedora Core to RedHat Enterprise Linux will, I am told, obviate the need for me to upgrade the install more often than about once every three years.

So if anybody wants me to change the way my machine is set up before the year 2008, I am going to tell them to go to hell.

And if I see anybody from the security committee in the next week, me and my good friend Mr. Baseball Bat are going to explain to them that security isn't really important unless we can USE OUR COMPUTERS.

Just imagine working for the Air Force. The danger of crackers is, of course, that a really successful cracker attack might interfere with our ability to use our computers. Kind of like... kind of like our computer security people do every single day.

Blast it, the crackers are here, and we're paying them.

Ah, what I'd give to be allowed to move to Linux... (sob)
