I guess I have to take back all the nasty words I said about viruses earlier, and heap blame and invective instead upon the streptococcus bacterium.

Do you hear me, bacteria? I am cursing you! Cursing you, your parents and children, your plasmids, your RNA, and your little flagellae, too! Cursing!

Went and got throat cultures this morning at the hospital up in Louisville, had a diagnosis and antibiotic prescription by lunchtime. Did you know that untreated strep can cause rheumatic fever? So says teh Intarweb. Hurrah for amoxycillin.

Anyways, I went to the grocery store and picked up Campbell's chicken soup, white bread and american cheese for grilled-cheese sandwiches, and a bunch of pudding cups. Still hurts a lot to swallow, but comfort food plus knowing the antibiotics are savaging the bacteria in my lymph nodes has me feeling better emotionally while I wait for the ibuprofen to kick in and kill the aches.

Oh, and, uh, anyone that I've seen in the last week or so: watch out for strep, eh?

Last time was a week in hospital. I'll take the two weeks at home.
