A friend of mine from high school and his wife came over for dinner tonight (at the little mexican place across the street) and general hanging-out and pleasant blather. Afterwards, Jerry came out of his homework-induced isolation and we watched an episode of Alias. (Second episode of season two.)

I just want to say that I am SO impressed with Lena Olin. She manages to radiate this aura of evil, and she communicates so much with so very little. She has almost no lines, but she can communicate volumes with subtle, slow changes of facial expression.

She plays one of the best villians I have seen. She is superb for the character she plays.

Much agreed. She is terrific.

I was glancing over her career at IMDB, and realized that I've seen her in a couple other things, but didn't recognize her in her role as Irina. From what I've seen of her other work, I think Alias might be one of her better performances.

She did get an Academy Award nomination for "Enemies, A Love Story," but, I admit, I've not seen it. As I recall, she's married to Lasse Hallström.

I love IMDB.

IMDB is wonderful. My roommate and I frequently use it in cases where we see someone on one show or movie and think they might have been in something else we've seen.
