Up and Down and All Around
Apr. 9th, 2005 12:58 amIt's like we switched to Daylight Savings Time and suddenly my life shifted into gear.
Got a bunch of code written today. UI tweaks, basically, but on Wednesday we figured out the changes we want to make to the voting procedure in the game and I think it'll really be a big improvement.
Took the shuttle up to Mesa Lab and met
nosato for lunch. (He's in Denver for a conference and was on a tour.) What a nice guy! I'm really glad I got to meet him. Plus, he took a good picture of me that I'm totally going to use for an icon. Hooray for random LJ connections!
Came back down the hill to a long staff meeting, but which was productive and made me appreciate my work environment. Our new director wore her shirt that says "Semper Ubi Sub Ubi" and I took it as a good omen. I also noticed that women outnumber men in my department by 2 to 1, which is pretty cool.
Bought CDs from Best Buy on the way home with some rebate coupons before they expired -- Sting, Alanis, Weird Al. Watched S'Pookie's DVD of Notorious C.H.O. while Monkey baked banana bread. Margaret Cho is funny!
I also called my Mom and, among other discussion, told her about the triad thing. This was not much of a surprise, because she has Mom-telepathy and had suspected that something of that nature was going on. She was all cool with it, so yay!
Now I just have to put my presentation together...

Date: 2005-04-09 11:29 am (UTC)You must have the coolest mom ever. My mom still prays for all my gay friends. She loves them and thinks they are good people, so it makes her sad that they are going to Hell. Somehow, she doesn't see the inherent flaw in this logic.

Date: 2005-04-09 11:46 am (UTC)Of course, I also figure that discretion is the better part of valor. Don't know if you were there, Beth, the time Nora was talking about whathisface, the Baby J involved with theater who wasn't Vince, and how it was a shame that such a cute guy would still be unavailable if he weren't a priest, and Mandy had to have that clarified and then freaked. I think I was her roommate at that point and made a mental note to never, ever discuss certain friends with her. (She was, in fact, still friends with Brian, even though he had come out to her, and I really wish I knew what mental accomodation she came to.)

Date: 2005-04-09 12:53 pm (UTC)Being my mother, she is also the bestest mommy in the whole entire world ever ever ever -- but isn't that true for most people?

Date: 2005-04-11 07:29 am (UTC)I should mention, also, that I am realizing that even if your own mother is fantastic and wonderful, the mother of your child can often give her a run for her money. I know this doesn't necessarily apply to you very closely, but I thought you'd find that interesting.

Date: 2005-04-09 07:49 pm (UTC)The Mom-telepathy. Funny...I bet she knows a lot about me, and she is very cool about most of the things I choose to do.
Well, here is another picture of you. I will upload the raw pictures onto my account so that you can download them. I will do it when I go to my cubicle tomorrow and let you know about where they are then...uploading heavy files using 26.4k modem speed is...a pain, to say the least.
