I just got back from a really great staff development class on digital photography. Some of it I knew. Some of it was new stuff that was really useful, like what the relationship between ISO, aperture, and shutter speed is, and what a bracketing exposure is and why you might want to do it.

And some of it was things that should be obvious, but don't occur to the amateur, which is why it's always nice to go to presentations like this and hear from a professional. Things like, "carry extra batteries for your camera". Oh! DUH! Yes, that would be a good idea, wouldn't it?

I learned the battery tip from kisken. And, then, because I found it cheap-ish, I got the AC adaptor, which is useful when I'm at home offloading pictures.

Still, I'm mostly a point and click person 99.9% of the time, and I honestly hate carrying the camera around and clicking. I feel like a paperazzi, but with guilt.

Boy do I know about the battery situation. I go through regular AA bats in my Kodak digi cam often enough to at times run out when I least want it to.

So when I have an extra $40 or so, I'm splurging on a battery charger that'll charge at least a pair of AA's in either 15 min or 30 minutes, depending on which model I get. That'll solve most of the battery issues for me. :-)

The camera I have is a regifted Kodak from 1999. Apparently, at that point they were including a recharger, so I have two sets of batteries and I'm good to go. (The camera came with three sets, but one of them seems to have died the death.)
