I missed a dentist appointment today.

Because I forgot to go.

This is a first. [livejournal.com profile] saintpookie reminded me at breakfast, and I remembered when I got to work, and then I thought about it again just after lunch, and then I just... forgot. Until 5 (two hours after the appointment), when I suddenly said "Holy crap, I forgot my dentist appointment!" I can't even blame it on a meeting or anything, I just spaced it.

I know this kind of thing happens a lot, but still. I feel really lame.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of unkept appointments, I shall fear no tardiness. For I have the power of beeping reminders. :-)

My PDA is my friend. :-)

I did this same thing for my first-ever jury duty call. Not only was I feeling terrible about being such a dolt (I just drove to work like normal, and when I got there, my coworker--who apparently had a better understanding of my personal committments than I did--asked me, "So did they not call you for jury duty?" The slap to my forehead caused a tsunami in Southeast Asia. (Are tsunami jokes still in the outre phase?)) but I was really looking forward to it, even if it amounted to nothing. I called city hall and left a long message saying how terribly, terribly sorry I was. I have a feeling it's common for people to flake on it, and probably rare for them to ever call to apologize. So, if there's a "good behavior" pile for future jury duty calls, hopefully I'm in it.

Well, don't feel too bad. Sadly, the odds are that you'd never get selected anyway, because you're educated and have opinions of your own. Trial lawyers dislike that, I hear.
