When you're a kid, you wonder what grown-ups do when they stay up past midnight and all the kids have to go to bed. You assume that it's something really exciting, and would likely be very disappointed to discover that really, grown-ups mostly just sit around and talk.

Now that I'm no longer a kid, I really like sitting around and talking. And parties that involve nothing more than hanging out? Just fine.

William had his "my house turned 100 recently" party. Got to see him, see the house, meet his dogs (a pug and a French bulldog -- cute and sweet but snorty). Then this evening, Greg & Jerry were peopled out but I went over to hang with Bryree & the Floyds. We had conversation. I hypothesize that I am, in fact, a grown-up.

Embracing adulthood is kinda whack, and kind way cool at the same time. *raises a glass to you* Welcome aboard!

I can remember specifically being astonished that grownups seemed to think just sitting around talking to each other was "fun". And noticing, a couple years ago, that it had become exactly what I loved to do when I could.

Come to think of it, that moment of transition pretty much coincided with moving to TEP.

Between about 3 and 4:45 Sunday morning, I ate a fistful of spaghetti noodles, a pineapple/habañero salsa sandwich, a third of a can of mangosteen, several small bunches of concord grapes, numerous baby carrots, tomatoes, apple, and orange slices, and at least five or six fistfuls of cilantro. I suspect many kids (or at least teens) would find that exciting.
