When I sleep alone on my futon, I always sleep on one side. The other side of the bed is where I leave the book I was reading when I went to sleep, and all of the extra pillows. Because it's a flat surface, things rapidly start being left there, slowly encroaching on my side of the bed.

These days, the futon is in couch mode, and I'm sleeping in a hammock. This particular one isn't wide enough to have sides.

So, nytemarewulf and I don't currently live together, so we don't normally sleep in the same bed. Should I answer for when we do?? ^_-

goobermunch and I actually switched sides of the bed about seven months ago. It was really odd for a while, but this arrangement is starting to seem "normal" now.

Hubby and I used to always do the "Jenn sleeps on the side of the bed closest to the bathroom" thing, but for some reason in 2005 we've been doing the opposite.

However, I still drink 2 gallons of water/tea a day, so I'm not really clear on why we switched...

Single, and I always sleep on the side of the bed that I can get out of. The other side is against the wall.

Strangely, whenever Chris and I move apartments, the sides are up for grabs. Maybe its a feng-shui thing, but in different bedrooms I have picked different sides of the bed.

In any bedroom, there are certain orientations of the bed that are okay, and others that are not, but I'm thinking back and can't come up with any common factors. Just... some positions are good, and others aren't.

When I am pregnant, I sleep on the side closest to the bathroom. Then, after the first trimester queasiness comes to an end, I change around the room so it doesn't remind me of how sick I was, and we usually change sides of bed, too. So that's about six times in the last five years we've changed. Night-to-night, though, it remains the same.
